Collection of college work

I have now come to the end of my studies at QANTM College. These last 10 months have gone by incredibly quickly, and even though I have learnt so much here, there is still a lot more to learn.

This showreel is of all my college work, some of which has already been posted below. It starts with the architectural walk-thru, so if you don't want to see that again (which I can understand), scroll through (if you can) to 1:43, there should be some new work.

This compilation will definitely be edited, and polished up for job interview requirements, but as I have literally just finished, I have not had very much time for tweaking and polishing.

I hope you've enjoyed following my progress. I am not sure if I will continue with this blog in the future, or rather, attempt to create my own web page. Either way I will keep you informed, as it's always nice to receive feedback, positive or critical.

The proportion of this clip is better, however the resolution is quite tiny, and in all reality should fill up your entire screen. This is further prompting me to create my own page, where these sorts of things can be downloadable.

Final Project

This clip is my final project for college. The requirements were for a 30sec minimum animation, on whatever we want. I chose to do an architectural walk-thru (what a surprise). This walk-through takes place in a house that my uncle had built in Los Angeles, however I chose all the furniture.

As the original movie was set-up for widescreen and in high definition, this clip will appear a little bit distorted, and narrower then intended, but the idea is still there. If you prefer to view this movie in the correct proportion, it is also featured in the next post "Collection of college work", but is slightly smaller. Gaming Platform

For our most recent assessment we did a group project, which consisted of the entire class of 20. Each person was responsible for a couple of different parts of the scene, such as the buildings, vehicles, characters, a helicopter, and other bits of of street furniture.

The setting is of a once very nice and well-to-do suburb, that has become run-down and is now abandoned. The cars and characters are meant to be slightly futuristic.

Below are a couple of pictures of the scene as a whole.

Some of my individual work. A house, shopping trolley, bench, and the fence that went around a shipping container yard.

A Very Random Walk in the Park

Here is my very first attempt at producing a short animation clip. I didn't create the character, it was a pre-rigged freebie. I did come up with the concept of the 'story', however, as with most of my work, during this learning process, it's only half finished. The requirement was for a 10 second animation clip, with some sort of action. I also set up the scenery.

One day I will attempt to complete it, with a punch line of sorts.

Gaming Charater Progress...

Some more work has been done to the Snowboarding Dude, now with snowboard. Still need to adjust the paint weights to stop deformation on the jacket. Yes, a work in progress.

Gaming Character

This is my first attempt at modeling a low poly character to be used for gaming. He is a snowboarding dude, with accessories coming soon. I am also in the process of rigging him, so he'll be able to do all sorts of incredible tricks.

First Render Job cont'd

I've been asked to progress further with the 3 Mobile job, in showing what the rest of the layout will look like.
I know i've got some issue with lighting, it either gets too washed out with white shine/reflection, or it's too dark. This is an area I need to work on quite a bit. Once again it was a very tight turn-a-round time.

First Render Job

This was a super quick render (3.5 hour turn-around time) I set up for architect Agi Sterling (a sterling design pty ltd). The purpose for the renders was to present it to one of her clients, 3 Mobile, to incorporate a "booth style" seating arrangement in their call centre lunchroom. I know the seats look quite hard, but with such a short turn-around time, we were aiming and just providing a concept at this stage.

Architectural Images

My first go at an architectural render...the layout is based on a existing house in inner Sydney, with some modification to the furniture and artwork, as well as the view outside. As my skills develop I hope to keep working on this file, completeing the entire house, and produce a walk-thru at the end.

Please click on these images to enlarge, and feel free to leave some feedback.
